Navigating Mental Health Insurance Coverage in the UAE
In the UAE, psychiatric and psychological care is typically categorized under "Psychotherapy”, “Psychiatry” or “Psychology” services. Your benefits usually fall into one of two structures:
Session-Based: Your plan covers a specific number of sessions per year (e.g., 10–20 sessions).
Monetary-Based: Your plan provides a financial cap (e.g., AED 5,000–10,000) for all mental health expenses including consultations, therapy, and diagnostics.
Types of Coverage
At Peninsula, we work with a “Pay and Claim” structure. You will pay for the services rendered by the clinic, and you will submit a Receipt and a Claim Form (provided by Peninsula) to your Insurance, for reimbursement of expenses into your account.
This reimbursement may be done at 100% or at different percentages.

Some insurances require a referral by a GP or a Psychiatrist in order to have Psychology sessions. If you’re not sure who the best person is for this referral, please get in touch with us - we know great Psychiatrists that can help you!
